Overview
The Instrument Fitter is responsible for fabricating and installing conduit, tubing, and piping, as well as installing instruments and support. Candidates must possess the necessary skills and qualifications to perform these tasks safely and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints, and other drawings.
- Identify and demonstrate safe usage of power tools and hand tools appropriate for the job.
- Recognize various materials used in piping systems and demonstrate knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques.
- Select and safely use appropriate equipment including manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill to fabricate and install conduit, tubing, and piping systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill to install supports.
- Demonstrate knowledge of electronic and pneumatic instruments.
- Read and understand literature supplied by vendors to install site-specific equipment.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or G.E.D.
- 3 years of experience.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- TWIC required.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with minimal infractions.
- Ability to use standard and/or metric rule to measure.
- Ability to use basic math calculations for measuring and cutting pipes accurately.
- Ability to accurately follow instructions.
- Ability to teach others when needed.
- Understanding of the implications of new information for problem-solving and decision-making.
