Overview
Chart Industries is seeking a Pipe Welder in New Iberia, LA, to contribute to the fabrication of Cold Box LNG processing equipment. This role offers an opportunity for personal growth and skill development in a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Review and complete welds to the assigned Weld Procedure Specifications.
- Review Weld Maps, Joint Details, and Work Instructions for the assigned task.
- Select correct welding wire and adjust machine settings appropriately.
- Identify different material types used for the assigned task.
- Clean welds by grinding and brushing with power tools and hand tools.
- Work with fitters to move, clean, clamp, prepare, and tack components.
- Complete welds using FCAW, GMAW-Pulsed, and GTAW processes on stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum alloy.
- Complete welds on plate and tube in all positions.
- Complete welds on plate, structural square tube, pressure retaining pipe, and vessels in all positions.
- Complete multiple pass welds on different joint geometries.
- Complete welds with unique sequences and different weld sizes.
- Complete welds to meet the acceptance criteria of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, ASME VIII Div. 1, and ASME B31.3.
- Verify quality of weld using visual techniques and standard inspection tools.
Requirements
- Basic reading and math skills.
- Ability to weld structural components using the FCAW process on both carbon steel and stainless steel materials.
- Ability to pass an ASME Section IX pipe welding test for 2”, 6”, and 8” pipe in the 6G position or 6” pipe in the 6G position.
- Minimum of three years of welding experience.
