Overview
The Welding Technician II performs advanced welding techniques and fabricates high-quality products by cutting, grinding, and welding using MIG and TIG applications. This role aligns with Master’s core values of excellence, integrity, positive communication, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets blueprints, build sheets, travelers, or other paperwork dictating product characteristics.
- Performs all welding procedures including machine settings, bottles, and necessary fittings.
- Sets up and performs MIG and TIG Welding operations.
- Uses a variety of hand tools including pneumatic tools such as die grinders and cutting wheels, electric grinders, pry bars, chisels, clamps, and others.
- Fabrics products through cutting, grinding, and welding methods.
- Utilizes measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and 'string checks' to ensure the product built is within quality tolerances.
- Inspects welds for cracks, burn through, and weld spatter.
- Grinds and cleans areas where required.
- Communicates effectively with team members, other departments, and customers.
- Maintains welding machines (tip, liner, changes, etc.) and welding vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
- Follows hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention procedures.
- Complies with all health and safety programs.
- Maintains a neat and clean work area.
Requirements
- Welding Certification, completion of a formal apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Metal Inert Gas (MIG) or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding experience.
- Experience in maintaining Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)/Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG) welding machines.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and consistent.
- Understanding of safety standards and regulations in the automotive industry.
- Communication skills to work effectively with team members, other engineers, and customers.
- Basic computer skills.

- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

- Travel Requirements: Less than 5%
