Overview

My client is looking to add a Welding Technical Support Specialist to their team in the Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills, MI area. This position requires comprehensive tube welding knowledge and experience, focusing on customer support and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, onsite technical support for impeder core hardware test, development, and application.
• Assist with installation, testing, and process improvements for new impeder core material on customer tube welding lines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tube welding problems related to the tube welding impeder and impeder core.
• Set up and calibrate machinery using tooling, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Support onsite testing and product application development for tube welding impeders during testing and production launch.
• Operate tube welding machines and other equipment with precision and adherence to specifications.
• Conduct root cause analysis of tube welding system performance issues and recommend improvements or upgrades.

Requirements

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process using micrometers, calipers, and other inspection tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols.
• Mechanical knowledge of tube welding processes, tooling, fabrication techniques, equipment maintenance, tube weld quality knowledge, and metallurgy characteristics.
• Familiar with tube welding impeder installation, cooling, and retention.
• Prior experience with tube welding or sheet metal fabrication.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance in manufacturing processes.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
