Overview

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Pipe Fitter responsible for installing complex piping systems on naval ships. The position requires certification in Pipefitting or a related field and involves working in various environments, including extreme heights and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Install complex piping systems on ships and in the shop.
• Read blueprints and fabricate piping systems.
• Inspect and test piping systems onboard a ship.
• Attend a Fundamentals of Pipe Fitting class during initial weeks.

Requirements

• Must present a certificate or diploma in Pipefitting or a related field.
• Ability to work at extreme heights or in small confined spaces.
• Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Must work assigned shifts as production needs.
