The Pipefitter Foreman role is a full-time, on-site position in Fredericksburg, VA, responsible for overseeing pipefitting crews on mechanical construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct pipefitting crews on mechanical construction projects.
- Plan daily tasks and assign work to crew members.
- Coordinate materials and tools for projects.
- Interpret blueprints, isometrics, and specifications.
- Install, assemble, and troubleshoot piping systems.
- Verify measurements and layouts to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure quality standards and codes are met.
- Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades.
- Document progress and address field issues.
- Train crew members and reinforce safety practices on site.
Requirements
- Strong pipefitting trade skills, including layout, cutting, threading, fitting, and installing piping systems for HVAC, plumbing, and process applications.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, such as blueprints, P&IDs, isometrics, and specifications.
- Experience leading field crews and delegating tasks.
- Proficiency in coordinating with project management and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of mechanical codes and safety regulations.
- Commitment to jobsite safety and conducting toolbox talks.
- Effective communication skills for clear instructions and reporting.
- Ability to use basic construction technology and tools.
- Prior experience as a pipefitter foreman or lead pipefitter preferred.
- Relevant trade school training, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent on-the-job experience in pipefitting or mechanical construction.
