Overview

Ampcus Inc. is a certified global provider of a broad range of Technology and Business consulting services. They are seeking a highly motivated Fitter/Welder 1 to fit, tack, weld, assemble, repair, and maintain mechanical components and rotating equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly, installation, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of gas turbines, compressors, and associated mechanical systems.
  • Fit, tack, and weld components according to engineering drawings and welding standards.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, and maintain mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Read, interpret, and execute complex assembly instructions, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Perform alignments and component installations.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality Control, Material Control, and production teams.
  • Maintain compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) procedures and policies.
  • Operate welding equipment, cutting rigs, measuring instruments, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inventory, clean, inspect, stage, and safely handle incoming parts using proper lifting and rigging methods.
  • Fabricate fixtures and implement approved engineering design changes.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Complete production documentation, shop orders, and time records accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or 10+ years of relevant stainless-steel pipe welding experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in rotating equipment manufacturing, assembly, or related shop environment.
  • Experience with welding and cutting tools, processes, and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience in gas turbine mechanical work and gas turbine overhaul preferred.
  • Knowledge of turbo-compressor rotating equipment assembly, compressor internals, auxiliaries, assembly methods, sequencing, and technical work instructions preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Ability to maintain required welding certifications.

Additional Information

  • Manufacturing/shop environment.
  • Approximately 15% travel required.
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, and manual work.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Overtime, weekend work, and alternate shifts may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with limited supervision.
