Overview
The Insulator I position involves applying, removing, and repairing insulation on industrial equipment and mechanical systems to control noise and maintain temperatures. This role is part of a maintenance team and requires adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, instructions, and other documentation.
- Determine the amounts and select required insulation materials based on various factors.
- Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up the work site.
- Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with various materials.
- Fit insulation around obstructions and shape materials as required.
- Install sheet metal around insulated pipes to protect insulation.
- Measure and cut insulation for covering surfaces using various tools.
- Prepare surfaces for insulation application with adhesives or cement.
- Cover or seal insulation with preformed covers or tape to secure it.
- Follow all hazardous waste handling guidelines.
- May remove or seal off old asbestos insulation following safety procedures.
- Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform clean-up activities.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
