Overview

HEI is a leading heavy civil construction company with over 50 years of experience, operating in Arizona, the Carolinas, Colorado, and Texas. They are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pipe Layer to join their Dallas team, responsible for preparing and installing underground pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Install sanitary and stormwater sewer structures and pipe systems
• Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with the supervisor
• Cut pipes to required lengths
• Assemble, install, and repair underground pipe fittings and valves of various materials and sizes for storm drains or sanitation sewers, and water mains
• Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
• Install equipment such as pumps, valves, generators, tanks, motors, shafting, conveyors, and rail systems
• Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue
• Measure, cut, and leak test pipes
• Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools
• Train others in pipe-laying techniques
• Perform other general labor and construction-related duties

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or GED
• Experience: Two years of experience preferred
• OSHA 30 preferred, minimum OSHA 10 preferred
