Overview
HII's Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Marine Welder to support submarine alterations and installations for fleet modernization. The role involves working on active class surface ships, submarines, and shore-based facilities using various welding processes.
Responsibilities
- Support trades team by working on active class surface ships to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization.
- Perform all work in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.
- Perform a variety of tasks related to shipboard maintenance to meet standards on various contracts.
- Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
- Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify structural and piping elements and equipment.
- Cut, fit, assemble, and position pieces to be welded using hand and powered tools.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems.
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced welders.
Requirements
- Must have High School education or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate welding ability through qualification testing.
- Must have welding experience with stick welding (SMAW) process in all positions.
- Must have strong knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints.
- Must be capable of using various measuring instruments.
- Must have knowledge of quality control steps and procedures.
- Must adhere to safety and quality procedures set forth by HII.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
- Must be able to travel between 50% - 75% when not assigned to local tasking.

- Per Diem provided based on location when on travel.
