Overview

The Mechanical Fabrication Centers Section provides engineered fabrication services for commercial and government customers, focusing on precision machined components and welded joint assemblies. The role involves leading fabrication efforts for pressure vessels and structural assemblies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and fostering skill development among technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced principles and concepts to welding and fabrication execution.
• Lead project fabrication efforts by translating design intent into qualified welding processes.
• Ensure proper welding and fabrication processes are followed through site inspections.
• Support the design and application of weld procedures to optimize project needs.
• Lead collaboration between team members and support existing training programs for welders.
• Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures supporting specific project needs.
• Prepare and technically review fabrication project proposals for feasibility and compliance.
• Conduct on-the-job training for team members and provide targeted instruction.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Welding Technology, Welding Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related Technology degree.
• Certified Welding Inspector or able to become a CWI.
• In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a High School diploma or equivalent with 25 years of related experience and continued education and certifications is acceptable.
• 6+ years of demonstrated expertise in the development and application of welding procedures in accordance with AWS, ASME, and customer-specific codes.
• Hands-on experience across multiple welding processes and materials.
• Recognized ability to exercise independent technical judgment in weld process selection.
• Proven capability to train, mentor, and technically evaluate welders.
• Advanced proficiency in inspection planning and CWI-level evaluation.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
