Overview

US Wire Group is a parent company of three independent companies that produce steel wire and cable/wire related products. The Maintenance Mechanic position involves assembling, fabricating, repairing, and maintaining machinery and industrial equipment, working closely with other trades to ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Rebuild gearboxes and repair mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Weld various parts using a stick welder and torch.
  • Dismantle machinery to access and remove defective parts.
  • Inspect used or worn parts for dimensional changes.
  • Adjust functional parts of machines and control instruments.
  • Repair or replace defective parts and lubricate equipment.
  • Start and run machinery to test performance.
  • Set up rigging for moving heavy equipment.
  • Design, fabricate, and install new equipment or components.
  • Document observations and settings as required.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the work area.
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to pass preemployment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings.
  • Understanding of various tags and labels used in the mill.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Some computer knowledge.
  • Availability for overtime and a 12 days on, 2 days off shift schedule.
  • Must join Union after 30 days of employment.
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the USA.
  • Ability to use various hand tools and equipment.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment around metals.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
