Overview
HMT is seeking capable Tank Welders responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials at facilities or construction sites, ensuring a safe foundation for strong infrastructure. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Keep your equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
- Prepare the appropriate welding/cutting equipment based on the required procedure
- Use tape measure, rulers etc. and clamp pieces to align components
- Assist with fit-up and preparation of welding joints, prying, grinding hammering
- Efficiently produce quality welds
- Check welded surfaces and structures for flaws by testing and inspecting them
- Perform or assist with post weld clean up, stripping fit up gear, grinding, wire wheeling
- Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions to weld components
- Communicate with field leadership regarding issues, concerns with the job site, safety, quality, your own or others
- Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders
- Comply with all HMT and client safety policies and procedures
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Welder using Flux Core (FCAW) and Stick (SMAW)
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Welding
- Ability to pass 2G/3G/4G weld test in Flux Core and Stick Welding
- TWIC Card (Current or In Progress)
- Solid experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures, such as Flux Core and Stick
- Experience with cutting torch and arc gouging
- Solid experience using electrical or manual tools, such as saws, squares, calipers
- Must meet all criteria for a Class B Welder
- Excellent knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
- Good ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Agility, professionalism, and close attention to detail
- Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
- Professional Certification, such as AWS welding certificate, will be a bonus
