Overview
The Welder I position involves performing MIG welding processes on various structural steel components in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong welding skills and attention to detail, ensuring quality and safety in their work.
Responsibilities
- Engage in MIG welding processes on structural steel components.
- Understand and follow all safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
- Coordinate welder settings, gun speed/travel, and gas flow based on bead conditions.
- Read tape measures and blueprints to shop standards.
- Decide on adjustments or gun manipulation as needed.
- Determine necessary repairs for pin holes and burn through.
- Train and teach proper welding procedures according to manufacturing standards.
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment.
- Maintain specified shape, size, and penetration of welds while ensuring product quality.
- Keep numerical and alphabetical sequences correct.
- Practice continuous improvement in the work area.
