Overview
Major Tool & Machine (MTM) is seeking experienced Welders for second and third shifts, offering competitive pay and a focus on employee engagement. The company provides essential services in CNC machining, welding, and engineering for various industries including Space, Defense, and Energy.
Responsibilities
- Build complex assemblies by performing layout, fit-up, assembly, and welding operations.
- Certify to multiple weld specifications as required for different materials and weld processes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials as guides for machining or fabrication.
- Use precision measurement instruments.
- Operate hand tools and shop equipment such as grinders and positioners.
- Handle large weldments using overhead cranes with attention to safety.
- May operate fork truck, subject to certification requirements.
- Ensure proper data entry of inspection and other information into the computer system.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and function of equipment and work area daily.
Requirements
- A minimum of two years of trade school or vocational education or appropriate work experience in welding.
- General welding knowledge, shop math, precision measuring instruments, blueprint reading, and welding symbols.
- Must have MIG and TIG welding experience; physical weld test will be required.
- Material familiarity with carbon and stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, and aluminum.
- Robotic welding/programming experience is a plus.
- Present a positive attitude and work well with deadlines.
- Good work ethic and attendance.
- Ability to communicate well with peers, engineers, and leadership.
