Job Description

Overview

The Welder II position involves performing welding operations according to blueprints and company standards to meet inspection criteria. The role requires expertise in welding various materials and maintaining welding equipment while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Weld different types of materials such as Aluminum, Steel, and Stainless Steel.
  • Set up and maintain welding machines including tips and liners.
  • Weld in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
  • Inspect welds for cracks, burn through, and weld spatter.
  • Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools as required.
  • Grind and clean areas as necessary.
  • Stay current in Total Productive Maintenance and make basic mechanical adjustments.
  • Follow hazardous waste disposal and fire prevention procedures.
  • Mentor junior welders and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of welding experience.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Welding Certifications required.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Experience in setting up, adjusting, and maintaining welding machines.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and follow directions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must pass the required welding certification test.
  • Must be able to perform an uphill weld.

Additional Information

  • Manufacturing facility with exposure to heat, fumes, noise, and industrial equipment.
  • Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, face shields, and protective clothing.
  • Fast-paced production environment with changing priorities.
  • May require overtime, additional shifts, or weekend work based on production demands.
