Overview

Trane Technologies is a leader in creating sustainable climate solutions for buildings, homes, and transportation. The Opex Tooler-1 position involves driving continuous improvement in the plant by prototyping and developing cost-effective solutions while collaborating with various disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate tables, workstations, carts, tool stands, poke yoke devices, fixtures, ergonomic assists, safety devices, and other devices to improve quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Modify existing equipment to enhance its usefulness in a process.
  • Collaborate with operators to turn improvement ideas into workable, safe solutions.
  • Repurpose old or scrap equipment for safe reuse.
  • Support Kaizen events with multi-functional team members.
  • Assist operations in problem-solving issues affecting takt attainment.
  • Ensure improvement solutions meet OSHA safety regulations and ergonomic standards.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform basic maintenance on shop equipment.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of machines and tools used for fabrication, welding, and general mechanical repair.
  • Working knowledge of safely designing, building, and verifying basic mechanical structures from various materials.
  • Experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, and costs in manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA safety rules and ergonomic guidelines.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related position such as fabricator, welder, machinist, mechanic, maintenance tech, or programmer.
  • Proficient with basic fabrication equipment including welders, shears, brakes, torches, bandsaws, and PLCs.
