Tank Welders HMT

Overview

HMT is seeking capable Tank Welders responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials at facilities or construction sites. The role emphasizes safety and precision in welding to support strong infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Keep equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Prepare appropriate welding/cutting equipment based on required procedures
• Use tape measures, rulers, and clamps to align components
• Assist with fit-up and preparation of welding joints, including prying, grinding, and hammering
• Efficiently produce quality welds
• Check welded surfaces and structures for flaws by testing and inspecting them
• Perform or assist with post weld clean up, including stripping fit up gear and grinding
• Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions to weld components
• Communicate with field leadership regarding job site issues and safety concerns
• Work at heights, including climbing stairs and ladders
• Comply with all HMT and client safety policies and procedures

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Welder using Flux Core (FCAW) and Stick (SMAW)
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) Welding
• Ability to pass 2G/3G/4G weld test in Flux Core and Stick Welding
• TWIC Card (Current or In Progress)
• Solid experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Experience with cutting torch and arc gouging
• Solid experience using electrical or manual tools, such as saws and calipers
• Must meet all criteria for a Class B Welder
• Excellent knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing
• Good ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Agility, professionalism, and close attention to detail
• Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
• Professional Certification, such as AWS welding certificate, will be a bonus
