Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, adjusting, and maintaining industrial manufacturing machinery, including sheet metal machines, engines, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems. The role requires effective communication and teamwork within the maintenance organization.
Responsibilities
- Safely measure voltage, current and power in AC and DC circuits.
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot controls and electrical faults on machinery.
- Perform basic wiring and understand wire gauges.
- Possess basic knowledge of NEC/UL codes.
- Use a computer and diagnostic software for electrical and automation problems.
- Align, install, and maintain belt drives, pulleys, chain and sprocket drives, and shaft assemblies.
- Install and replace motors.
- Understand air and water systems.
- Align, install, and maintain pneumatic lines and hoses.
- Adjust and regulate pressures in pneumatic systems.
- Check operation of water separator/drain in pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose and repair compressors and vacuum pumps.
- Have basic pipe fitting knowledge and use a pipe threader.
- Understand fluid contamination prevention processes in hydraulic systems.
- Install, repair, and maintain hydraulic components like pumps and valves.
- Have basic knowledge of metal materials and welding procedures.
- Recognize and use proper safety equipment for welding.
- Conduct all work on premises.
- Work in a dusty factory environment subject to extreme temperatures.
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Work at heights exceeding 3 ft.
- Lift weights of up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
- Minimum of HS diploma/GED.
- Certification in skilled maintenance trades preferred.
- 1-3 years of basic mechanical experience.
- Basic understanding of computers including Microsoft Office.
- Hands-on experience with equipment controls and basic NESC, UL/ETL knowledge.
- Current material handling certification preferred.
- Lock Out/Tag Out, Lifting & Rigging, preventive or predictive maintenance certifications preferred.
