Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance position involves repairing and installing plant machinery and equipment under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent.
Responsibilities
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Move, install, dismantle, repair, and reassemble process equipment.
- Remove and install bearings and seals with consideration for cleanliness and lubrication.
- Align sprockets, gears, and couplings.
- Overhaul gear reducers, belt and chain drives, and variable speed drives.
- Operate mobile equipment and special rigging devices.
- Interpret and work from prints, blueprints, charts, tables, and work orders.
- Perform tack-welding using electric processes.
- Take measurements and create simple sketches.
- Troubleshoot and repair waste fuel equipment.
- Perform daily inspections of air compressors and water pumps.
- Repair and maintain air, water, and gas distribution systems.
- Inspect and repair dust collection systems.
- Collect water and oil samples.
- Maintain filters on air compressors and HVAC systems.
- Weld broken machinery and install hard facing on wearing surfaces.
- Operate cutting torch, travel torch, and plasma cutter.
- Lay out and weld sheet steel for structural work.
- Operate and repair machines and equipment to shear, punch, drill, roll, and bend metal.
- Set up and adjust machine settings.
- Perform general inspection and repair of equipment prior to use.
- Perform lifting and rigging operations with mobile cranes.
- Assist in vibration analysis and balancing as needed.
- Perform environmental monitoring testing.
- Maintain housekeeping and clean-up of work areas.
- Document job duties.
- Assist in major plant repair projects as required.
- Attend RCRA training for waste-derived fuel activity as required.
- Observe all safety rules and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent is required.
- Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
- Ability to understand and interpret instructions, blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
- Knowledge and ability to set up and operate alignment equipment.
- Ability to operate a manlift and forklift safely and effectively.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Mechanical skills and the ability to work on compressors and pumps.
- Ability to accurately interpret welding symbols and instructions.
- Ability to perform all necessary mathematical functions and conversions.
- Must possess a current or valid driver’s license.

- Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm includes on call rotational shifts.
- Work performed in a shop environment and outdoor exposure throughout the plant.
- Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise.
