Overview

At Kelvion, the Welder will operate welding equipment using various processes to meet quality standards, contributing to the company's mission of leading industrial transformation through innovation and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Weld together fabricated parts of structural metal products in the shop.
  • Obtain specified electrode and set up welding machine.
  • Start power supply to produce electric current and strike an arc to join work pieces.
  • Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Examine weld for bead size and overall appearance.
  • Lift and position components using overhead or jib cranes.
  • Set up jigs and fixtures to assemble work pieces.
  • Straighten warped or bent parts.
  • Read blueprints.
  • Grind, chip weld splatter, and remove rust from surfaces.
  • Load trucks and move assembly to storage area.
  • Chip or grind out pits or cracks and replace worn abrasive disks.
  • Work cooperatively with others and deal respectfully with the public.
  • Perform multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Operate other small machines.

Requirements

  • Must pass American Welding Society 2g Plate Test and Canadian Welding Bureau.
  • Two years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and perform multiplication and division.
