Overview
At Kelvion, the Welder will operate welding equipment using various processes to meet quality standards, contributing to the company's mission of leading industrial transformation through innovation and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Weld together fabricated parts of structural metal products in the shop.
- Obtain specified electrode and set up welding machine.
- Start power supply to produce electric current and strike an arc to join work pieces.
- Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion.
- Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Examine weld for bead size and overall appearance.
- Lift and position components using overhead or jib cranes.
- Set up jigs and fixtures to assemble work pieces.
- Straighten warped or bent parts.
- Read blueprints.
- Grind, chip weld splatter, and remove rust from surfaces.
- Load trucks and move assembly to storage area.
- Chip or grind out pits or cracks and replace worn abrasive disks.
- Work cooperatively with others and deal respectfully with the public.
- Perform multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Operate other small machines.
Requirements
- Must pass American Welding Society 2g Plate Test and Canadian Welding Bureau.
- Two years of experience preferred.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and perform multiplication and division.
