Overview
At Alstom, the Arc Welder 1 is responsible for performing all welding operations in rail vehicle manufacturing, utilizing various welding machines and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The company is committed to greener and smarter mobility worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Perform all welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing.
- Operate all welding machines including GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welders.
- Set up welding machines with minimal supervision.
- Read blueprints and work instructions, and set up jigs and fixtures.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely.
- Weld different types of materials and pass applicable welder evaluation Level A tests.
- Communicate effectively with customers and departments regarding design or material changes.
- Train and oversee less experienced welders.
- Assist in new process development and troubleshooting.
- Utilize digital technology in daily work.
- Inspect weldments per acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements.
- Demonstrate knowledge in other welding processes and post weld finishing technologies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, 2 year vocational degree or equivalent welding certificate with experience.
- Over 8 years of welding experience required.
- Knowledge of automatic/hand operated burning equipment.
- Familiarity with welding processes and machines GMAW, GTAW, RSW.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand weld symbols.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Strong adaptability and customer focus.
- Ability to follow instructions with attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain or has external certifications AWS/ANST or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of non-destructive testing or equivalent certification.
