Overview

The Metallurgist / Laboratory Supervisor at PCC Carson City is responsible for overseeing metallurgical testing activities, laboratory operations, and providing technical support. This role ensures compliance with customer specifications, aerospace industry requirements, and internal quality procedures while supervising laboratory personnel and maintaining laboratory accreditations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee metallurgical testing activities to support customer requirements and product qualification.
• Review and evaluate metallurgical test results for compliance with specifications.
• Interpret material specifications and industry standards related to metallurgical testing.
• Provide expertise related to casting processes, heat treatment, and material properties.
• Support investigations involving material performance and root cause analysis.
• Supervise Metallurgical Laboratory personnel to achieve testing and production objectives.
• Establish priorities and coordinate laboratory workflow.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated.
• Monitor laboratory performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support employee training and technical competency within the laboratory.
• Maintain compliance with customer requirements and NADCAP standards.
• Participate in audits involving laboratory processes and testing activities.
• Review non-conforming material and evaluate metallurgical data for disposition.
• Initiate corrective action investigations as necessary.
• Ensure laboratory records and testing documentation are accurate.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support product quality.
• Provide technical recommendations for process improvements and quality initiatives.
• Support new product introduction and qualification activities.
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
