Overview
This position involves setting up and running welding production while effectively communicating with co-workers and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret job specs to determine machine adjustments and weld times.
- Check and verify parts meet specifications and quality tolerances.
- Detect and report any defective product being produced or already produced.
- Communicate issues to supervisor regarding equipment issues and maintenance needs.
- Use various inspecting techniques and tools to check the conformance of produced parts.
- Perform paperwork requirements and other duties as assigned and write legibly.
- Keep a clean workstation, free of wood, bands, trash, and defective parts.
- Meet company production standards.
- Perform weldments per customer job specifications and D1.1/Familiarization on D9.1.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in a production/fabrication manufacturer.
- Must pass a tape measurement assessment test.
- Must pass a unit conversion test.
- Must pass a knowledge-based written test (Class III).
- Must pass a weld test (GMAW) Short Circuit and Spray transfers.
- TIG experience in Carbon and Stainless is preferred but not required.
- Must pass an advanced fit/layout assessment per company drawings.
- Advanced Blueprint knowledge.
- Advanced fabrication skills, including layout, cutting, grinding, and fitting.
- Ability to identify and correct weld defects per customer specs and D1.1/D9.1.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with rapidly changing priorities.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 10/25/50 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must be punctual and have reliable attendance.
