Overview

Engineered Steel Products (ESP) is a North Carolina based steel fabrication company providing structural steel for the construction industry. The Welder 1 position is responsible for assisting Fitters in the day-to-day operation of their work area while adhering to ESP's key business principles.

Responsibilities

• Play an active part in the safe work performance of the team.
• Report all incidents and near misses as per the ESP Safety Management System.
• Work closely with the fitters and other welders in the assigned work area to ensure optimum workflow.
• Assist the fitter in assembling relevant detail work for the main member being worked on.
• Ensure that all material edges have been de-burred and finished material presentation is in line with company standards.
• Understand all fitment marks as laid out by the fitter including weld and hole sizes.
• Assist fitter in tack welding detail to the main piece.
• Safely punch/drill holes as directed by the fitter.
• Perform basic welding functions as directed by the Plant Manager.
• Safely rig material using chains/clamps and operate overhead and jib cranes to move material.
