Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Large Pole Fitter Welder 11 position involves assembling pole products through various welding processes under the supervision of the Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Assembles products by tack welding small parts to pole shafts using GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes.
• Positions shafts for assembly using a stationary turner and lifts components with a jib crane.
• Reads and interprets drawings to gather and assemble necessary parts.
• Cuts steel using a plasma torch and jigs for precise measurements.
• Measures distances and angles using tools like measuring tapes and levels.
• Works in confined areas to accurately assemble components.
• Operates motorized grinders, buffers, and drills for product assembly.
• Maintains professional competencies and certifications.
• Keeps a clean and organized workplace while implementing LEAN practices.
• Performs general maintenance on equipment as needed.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• 3-5 years of experience fitting in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to calculate simple mathematics and use common manufacturing mathematics.
• 3 years experience reading and using blueprints.
• 3 years previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, or graduation from a Technical Training Program focused in welding.
• Must pass FCAW, GMAW, and SAW weld tests and maintain certification.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
