Overview

Ohmstede Ltd. is seeking a Welder to perform the necessary tasks required to fabricate or repair shell and tube heat exchangers of various types and other equipment associated with the refining and petrochemical process industry.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehend instructions from supervisors and/or co-workers.
  • Pass pre-employment welding examination.
  • Possess and apply knowledge of welding techniques.
  • Qualify for all welding techniques: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW.
  • Communicate verbally/effectively in English with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Read and understand blueprints and translate that information into the finished product.
  • Possess layout and fit-up practices and procedures.
  • Cut as needed to remove internal tubes.
  • Cut shells as necessary to retube bundles.
  • Weld shells back together.
  • Repair exchanger parts, tube sheets, channel heads and covers.
  • Install nozzles.
  • Make welds meeting x-ray quality as required.
  • Perform oxy/acetylene cutting.
  • Perform grinding as needed.
  • Operate vehicles and power tools when authorized and qualified.
  • Clean up work area and equipment after work is completed.
  • Comply with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Work reasonable overtime day or night and/or weekends when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of machining practices.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to bend, push, pull, twist, squat, crawl, lift and climb.
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Will work in heat, noisy, dusty, dirty, cold environment.
  • May be exposed to chemicals and pinching hazards.
