Overview

Novolex is a leading manufacturer of food, beverage, and specialty packaging, hiring a Welder in Cedar Rapids. The role involves welding various grades of materials and repairing plant equipment while adhering to safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate high voltage heliarc welders, wire welders, and spot welders safely.
• Interpret blueprints, work orders, and layouts to identify materials and dimensions.
• Position clamps and fixtures to hold components before welding.
• Select proper raw materials and adjust welding equipment for solid bonding.
• Operate overhead hoists to move large components safely.
• Utilize hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and tape measures.
• Record and label completed work orders for routing.
• Follow written and oral instructions.
• Communicate progress and problems to supervisors and co-workers.

Requirements

• Experience with TIG/MIG welding techniques.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.
• Knowledge of safe operation of welding equipment and tools.
• Capability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
• Physical ability to lift weights exceeding 150 lbs with assistance.
