Overview
DIS-TRAN Steel is seeking a Welder I for night shifts. The role involves performing various welding tasks on structures while ensuring quality and efficiency, all within a team-oriented environment that values respect and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
- Positions, aligns, and welds parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications.
- Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Examines steel or workpieces to ensure specifications are met.
- Moves parts safely into position using hoists or cranes.
- Welds components in flat positions.
- Operates manual welding equipment to fuse metal parts using the gas metal arc process.
- Cleans welds with grinders and other welding equipment.
- Examines work pieces for defects and measures with weld gauges to ensure conformance with specifications.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to interpret blueprints required.
- Ability to read a tape measure required.
- Welding certification or prior welding experience preferred; GMAW experience preferred.
- Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery, such as cranes, preferred.
- Regular, reliable attendance is required.
