Overview

DIS-TRAN Steel is seeking a Welder I for night shifts. The role involves performing various welding tasks on structures while ensuring quality and efficiency, all within a team-oriented environment that values respect and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
  • Positions, aligns, and welds parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications.
  • Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Examines steel or workpieces to ensure specifications are met.
  • Moves parts safely into position using hoists or cranes.
  • Welds components in flat positions.
  • Operates manual welding equipment to fuse metal parts using the gas metal arc process.
  • Cleans welds with grinders and other welding equipment.
  • Examines work pieces for defects and measures with weld gauges to ensure conformance with specifications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints required.
  • Ability to read a tape measure required.
  • Welding certification or prior welding experience preferred; GMAW experience preferred.
  • Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery, such as cranes, preferred.
  • Regular, reliable attendance is required.
