Overview

The Welder must be capable of performing a variety of welding functions and should be familiar with various types of welding equipment. Mazzella is a family-owned company that values its employees and offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and detail drawings.
  • Maintain, repair, rebuild, and fabricate parts for industrial equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and diagnose equipment problems.
  • Perform MIG, arc, and TIG welding, layout, and pipefitting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and use proper protective equipment.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Examine welds for bead size and specifications.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
  • Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
  • Select torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to specifications.
  • Tack assemblies together and chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
  • Clean or de-grease parts.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on welding equipment.
  • Move parts in and finished products out of the welding area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; military experience or trade school preferred.
  • Certified Welder required to obtain D14.1 certification within 30 days after hire.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a metal fabrication environment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Possess knowledge of applicable manufacturers and industry standards.
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Requires solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required.
  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy are required.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
