Overview
The Welder I position at Briggs & Stratton involves performing basic welding tasks to ensure components meet engineered specifications. The company is a leading producer of engines for outdoor power equipment and offers diverse power solutions globally.
Responsibilities
- Sets welding machine voltage and wire speed for proper fusion of metals following standard work methods and detailed drawings.
- Welds assemblies to engineering specifications.
- Performs basic maintenance of welding equipment to ensure proper working order.
- Inspects weldments for obvious defects such as weld spatter, rough welds, missing welds, and sharp corners/edges.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma.
- Previous experience preferred.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Basic blueprint reading preferred.
- Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility.

- Moderate physical demand; often lifting/moving average weight (25 to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs), and occasionally lifting heavy weight materials (up to 70 lbs).
- Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
