Overview

J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers & J&J Truck Equipment are seeking experienced welders to set up and operate equipment for welding fabricated metal components for truck bodies, trailers, specialty vehicles, and custom fabrications using GMAW and FCAW processes.

Responsibilities

  • Safely perform duties while wearing the required PPE.
  • Observe and comply with all provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.
  • Connect cables from the welding unit to obtain specified amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse.
  • Start the power supply to produce an electric current.
  • Clean or degrease weld joints or workpieces.
  • Prepare objects for welding by grinding surfaces.
  • Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in a jig or fixture.
  • Preheat the workpiece if required.
  • Strike an arc to melt and deposit metal from the electrode to the workpiece.
  • Manually guide the gun along the weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
  • Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
  • Set up and adjust the welder, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Safely operate all lifting devices when authorized and adequately trained.

Requirements

  • Vocational/technical training or a high school diploma or GED with work experience in an industrial setting.
