Overview
The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Mechanic to improve the day-to-day operations of the Engineering & Public Works - Fleet division. This position offers a competitive salary and a range of benefits, making it an attractive opportunity for service-oriented individuals.
Responsibilities
- Perform lubrication and filter replacements.
- Provide general assessment to Lead Mechanic as needed.
- Maximize the life of vehicles and equipment and minimize downtime.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance at work.
- Work around the clock when on call schedule.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and a positive attitude.
- Exhibit excellent multi-tasking and organization skills.
- Work safely and with appropriate PPE at all times.
- Plan work procedures in consultation with Lead Mechanic.
- Perform initial and in-process inspections.
- Conduct mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot defects.
- Perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts.
- Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear.
- Overhaul or replace fueling systems, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
- Replace and adjust headlights and install/repair accessories.
- Change oil, grease fittings, and change air, fuel, and oil filters.
- Rotate tires as needed.
- Inspect vehicles/equipment and report possible problems.
- Raise vehicles with hydraulic jack or hoist to access mechanical units.
- Repair A/C, engine, brakes, driveline, and equipment as needed.
- Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- ASE Preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Three (3) years related experience and/or training preferred.
- Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
