Overview
The Winder I position involves winding electric motors by inserting copper wire coils and connecting jumpers/lead cables. The role requires basic interpretation of motor specifications and performing tasks such as inserting insulation and inspecting for quality control compliance.
Responsibilities
- Interpret motor specifications including BOM and Winding Instruction Sheet.
- Insert insulation and insulated copper wire coils into motor stator cores according to specifications.
- Pre-form coil end turns using a rubber mallet and forming paddles.
- Connect jumpers/lead cables using solder, hydraulic, or air crimpers.
- Hand lace winding end turns.
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with quality control criteria.
- Assist in other manufacturing areas and cross-train in different positions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area daily.
- Learn at least 2-3 different tasks within the winding department by the end of 2 years.
- Achieve weekly productivity of 60-70%+.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- 0-4 years experience with motor winding.
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of electrical instruments or devices related to electrical motors, generators, or automatic equipment preferred.
- Mechanical ability.
- Good hand and finger coordination.
- Ability to study, analyze, and interpret specification work sheets with a trainer.
Additional Information
- Temperature controlled coil shop.
- Standing 8-10 hours per day, 5-6 days per week.
- Physical tasks include lifting, pulling, pushing, grasping, and repetitive motions.
