Overview

PALA Interstate, LLC is seeking a Utility Worker to assist skilled construction workers in performing various unskilled manual tasks. The role involves following work orders, cleaning work areas, and transporting materials on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Follows specific work orders as given by a skilled construction worker or foreman.
• Cleans tools, equipment, materials and specified work areas as needed.
• Digs, spreads and levels dirt, gravel, sand, etc.
• Mixes, spreads and pours concrete, asphalt, gravel or other ground surfaces.
• Transports needed tools, equipment and material to/from and around work site.
• Loads and unloads materials from company truck by hand or with an assisting device such as a forklift.
• Erects and disassembles scaffolding.
• Sprays materials such as sand, water, steam or paint through a hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces.
• Grinds, sands or polishes surfaces using tools and machines.
• Measures distance for various jobs i.e., grade stakes, cutting material, etc.
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of machinery or materials.
• Positions, joins, aligns and seals pipe sections.
• Applies caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.
• Performs variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.

Requirements

• High School or GED preferred but not required.
• Trade School program preferred but not required.
