Overview

The Equipment Worker position at Houston Airport Systems involves supporting maintenance services to ensure the longevity and aesthetics of airport assets. This role requires compliance with FAA and TXDOT regulations and includes varied work hours, including shifts on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pavement maintenance and mitigation activities including crack sealing and repairs.
  • Conducts marking maintenance for airfield and landside teams per FAA/TXDOT standards.
  • Responds to emergency airfield maintenance issues to maintain operational continuity.
  • Maintains airfield and grounds through mowing, vegetation control, and herbicide application.
  • Operates and troubleshoots heavy/specialized maintenance equipment.
  • Operates trucks for transporting equipment and materials.
  • Prepares for mitigation response by maintaining equipment and training.
  • Performs a variety of manual tasks including lawn care and painting.
  • Maintains, cleans, and services equipment, vehicles, and tools.
  • Provides guidance and communication with supervisory staff.
  • Observes and follows safety procedures at the work site.
  • Prepares and maintains reports and records.
  • May act as a lead of a crew and coordinate work assignments.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow basic instructions.
  • Six months of experience in operating plant or automotive equipment.
  • May require a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Preference for availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Experience in pavement, paint, or grounds maintenance related to roadway or airport maintenance.
  • Experience with implementing Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139 is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to utilize arithmetic and numerical problem-solving.
  • Possesses industry-specific certifications regarding heavy equipment operations and safety standards.
