Overview

The Chief Engineer at Alsco Uniforms is responsible for the daily repair and preventative maintenance of industrial textile processing equipment and facility maintenance, supervising staff and ensuring efficient operations. Alsco Uniforms has been a leader in the uniform and linen rental industry since 1889, serving over 350,000 customers globally.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all operating equipment in satisfactory condition.
  • Supervise the plant engineering staff and consult with production, sales, and service personnel.
  • Manage spare parts inventories cost-effectively.
  • Execute an effective preventative maintenance program to minimize unscheduled equipment downtime.
  • Install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on industrial processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust.
  • Ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Develop, train, maintain, and administer a department of qualified personnel.
  • Advise the General Manager of parts, supplies, and equipment requirements.
  • Supervise the handling of daily maintenance requests.
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with all plant personnel.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through workshops and publications.
  • Study blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and perform other tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Minimum of five years of maintenance engineering experience.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting ability of 3-phase 230-volt systems.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Experience in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repairs.
  • Team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work.
  • High school graduate or equivalency; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Some locations may require relevant certifications or a boiler license.
