Overview
The Welder at Illinois Marine Towing is responsible for performing all aspects of welding on inland marine vessels and equipment, ensuring structural integrity and operational readiness while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of welding work including prepare/check equipment.
- Weld steel barges and ships.
- Stick weld using 6010, 7018, and 7024.
- Use flux core welding in all positions with 0.52 wire.
- Safely operate heavy equipment and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Stay compliant with all regulatory bodies and safety rules.
- Travel to multiple locations as required.
- Perform other duties as required and directed by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Hold a valid Driver's License.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in stick welding.
- ABS certification is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding and application of workplace safety practices.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
