Overview

The High School Welding Technology Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive welding curriculum that prepares students for careers in manufacturing and related skilled trades. The position blends technical theory with hands-on experience, focusing on student proficiency in various welding processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons covering core welding processes.
  • Instruct students in blueprint reading, weld symbols, joint design, and basic metal fabrication.
  • Teach foundational theory including metallurgy, heat transfer, and weld quality inspection.
  • Develop project-based learning experiences that mirror real-world scenarios.
  • Align curriculum with AWS SENSE program standards and state CTE frameworks.
  • Integrate academic content including mathematics, science, and technical literacy.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students at varying skill levels.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous shop safety standards in compliance with OSHA.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment by all students.
  • Manage and maintain welding equipment and oversee proper storage of materials.
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and coordinate preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and ventilated shop environment.
  • Assess student learning through various evaluation methods.
  • Prepare students to earn AWS SENSE Entry Level or AWS Certified Welder credentials.
  • Maintain accurate records of student grades and certifications.
  • Provide individualized coaching and feedback to support student progress.
  • Advise the school's SkillsUSA chapter and coach students for competitions.
  • Build relationships with local industry partners for student internships.
  • Participate in the program's industry advisory committee.
  • Collaborate with counselors and administrators to support student achievement.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain current certifications.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and opportunities.
  • Complete required administrative duties including lesson plans and safety records.
