Overview
The Sheet Metal Worker position involves performing various sheet metal duties related to the repair, rebuild, and replacement of bus and rail car components. The role requires expertise in working with different types of sheet metal and operating large machinery to produce specified jobs.
Responsibilities
- Receives verbal or printed orders based on priority and need of the bus or rail car fleet.
- Lays out and develops sheet metal fixtures from blueprints, drawings, sketches, or samples.
- Cuts, punches, and debars sheet metal fixtures according to specified dimensions.
- Forms, bends, and rolls sheet metal fixtures according to specified dimensions.
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates large powered machinery for production.
- Performs bench site repairs to pre-existing bus and rail car sheet metal components.
- Handles sheet metal work on various components manufactured on site.
- Performs various sheet metal tasks on other components manufactured on site.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years verifiable experience as a journeyman sheet metal worker or completion of the Authority's Sheet Metal Apprentice Program.
- Must submit and pass drug and alcohol testing as mandated by the Federal Transportation Administration.
- Must pass a physical examination.
- Must pass applicable tests including skills at tinning, soldering, and torch work.
