Overview
As an Upfit Technician I, you will perform a variety of high-level activities related to truck body and trailers, including diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic issues, disassembling and reassembling truck bodies, and ensuring safe and timely completion of repairs.
Responsibilities
- Follow all Wabash Nationals WPO guidelines and attain all required certifications.
- Work in a team environment.
- Perform repairs and procedures safely and timely.
- Read the work order completely before beginning an assignment.
- Check the VIN on the vehicle to ensure correct components for the assigned job.
- Operate pneumatic and battery-powered cordless tools.
- Read basic drawings and prints.
- Operate lifting devices such as forklifts and stackers.
- Apply adhesives and mechanical fasteners, operate sanders, and apply light duty paint material.
- Operate saws and drill press equipment.
- Record part numbers on work orders.
- Have a basic understanding of 12v or automotive electrical systems.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- Intermediate mechanical skills/knowledge and welding experience preferred.
- Must have a current driver’s license.
- Experience in truck body or equipment manufacturing repair.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work off scaffolding up to ten to twelve feet.
