Overview

The Weld Prep Mechanic position at AMETEK involves the fabrication and assembly of sub-components for heat exchangers, ensuring adherence to drawing specifications. AMETEK is a leading global provider of industrial technology solutions, committed to sustainability and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cores for use in the welding area by straightening and conducting soap testing.
• Clean sub-components needed for use in the welding area.
• Set up cores and sub-components in the welding fixture.
• Test cores in leak tanks as required for certification.
• Review all welds for flaws such as missing welds or voids.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation following 5S instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Mathematics skills are required.
• Experience with calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and various hand tools.
• Must be able to read, write, and converse in English.
• High School education or equivalent is required.
• Shop floor experience is a plus.
