Overview
As a Mobile Technician II at J.B. Hunt, you will perform intermediate service and repair of tractors, trailers, and other equipment at customer sites or rail yards using a mobile service truck. This role requires a combination of technical skills and the ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs on tractor or trailer equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems.
- Properly operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
- Assist with onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees.
- Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations.
- Accurately complete work orders and other written materials.
- Document damage to company equipment to estimate repair costs.
- Use cutting torch and welding equipment for mid-level repairs.
- Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs.
- Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under supervision.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years for equipment over 10,000 lbs.
- 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent education/experience.
- Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines.
- Able to supply own basic tools or purchase through the toolbox program.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
