Overview

BNP Associates, Inc. is seeking a part-time Mechanic at the Westchester Airport in New York. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the company's growth in air transportation consulting and engineering while working with experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of the baggage handling system.
• Identify, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues within the system.
• Perform emergency repairs as needed to minimize system downtime.
• Quickly respond to and clear baggage jams or blockages.
• Investigate root causes of jams and implement preventive measures.
• Continuously monitor the baggage handling system for performance.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
• Provide daily/monthly baggage reports to the airport operations team.
• Manage and maintain accurate inventory of spare parts.
• Work closely with airport maintenance and TSA teams to address issues.
• Coordinate with airport operations personnel for efficient baggage handling.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to quickly diagnose and repair system malfunctions under pressure.
• Familiarity with conveyor systems and related equipment is preferred.
• Ability to operate hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance tools.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of a relevant program in mechanical engineering or industrial maintenance.
• Specialized training in baggage handling systems is a significant advantage.
• Industry-specific certifications related to safety standards or equipment repair are preferred.

Additional Information

• Part-time position: Saturday – Sunday, from 5 am – 1 pm.
• On call outside of regular business hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Location: Westchester Airport in Westchester County, New York.
• Successful candidate must pass criminal background checks for airport security badges.
