Overview
Join Multiquip as a MIG Welder I, where you will be responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding metal components to assemble structural forms. This position requires passing a Multiquip Welder Certification test within three months of employment, with a pay rate of $23.00 - $25.00 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Follow daily signal reports to complete assigned tasks.
- Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding activities.
- Lay out, position, align, and fit components in jigs or fixtures.
- Secure parts using bolts, clamps, and tack welds to prepare for welding.
- Perform welding along flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead weld lines.
- Examine welds to ensure specifications, including bead size, are met.
- Pressure-test welds to confirm air-tight retention of fluids.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
- Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
- Repair broken or cracked metal objects, fill holes, and build up metal parts.
- Use chop saws, hand plasma cutters, cutting torches, and/or belt sanders to fit parts.
- Change out welding gas cylinders and weld wire as required.
- Safely operate forklifts, power buggies, hoists, and scissor lifts per supervisor's discretion.
- Pay careful attention and use care when handling machinery and equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or Welder Certificate from a technical college or trade school preferred.
- Six months to one year of related experience/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with Robotic Weld is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in interpreting prints and welding symbols is preferred.
- Ability to operate hand tools and air-powered tools.
- Ability to operate a hoist.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure and calipers.
- Must pass a Multiquip Welder Certification test within three months of employment.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one interactions with other employees.
- Proficiency in basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
