Overview
UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an HVAC Mechanic I for the 3rd Shift to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of large heating and cooling systems across university facilities. The role requires strong experience in the operation and maintenance of large air handling equipment and aims to support the reliable operation of HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Operates and monitors equipment that admits steam into buildings.
- Inspects and adjusts air handlers, pumps, steam valves, and control systems.
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on valves and machinery.
- Conducts regular patrols to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Performs minor welding, brazing, and cutting.
- Troubleshoots and repairs exhaust fan systems.
- Inspects, dismantles, repairs, and reassembles equipment.
- Provides supervision to Maintenance Workers on the same shift.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in operation and maintenance of large air handling equipment.
- Experience with steam pressure reducing stations, heating and chilled water systems, and pumps.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Additional Information
- Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.
- Shift Requirement: 11:30 PM to 7:30 AM, Saturday through Wednesday.
