Overview
The Welder is responsible for completing assigned welding tasks as part of a team to produce customer fabrication orders accurately and on schedule. The role emphasizes maintaining high productivity and safety standards while adhering to all company safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Perform welding on components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Operate safety equipment and adhere to safe work habits.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies before welding.
- Examine workpieces for defects and measure them to ensure they meet specifications.
- Weld using various materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and cast iron.
- Select and install torches, tips, filler rods, and flux according to specifications.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent issues.
- Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan welding operations.
- Mark or tag materials with job numbers and other identifiers.
- Detect faulty equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
- Clean or degrease parts as needed and repair products.
- Fabricate products to match production specifications.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned to support production goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of industrial fabrication welding experience.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and job specifications.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with welding tools and equipment.
- High School diploma or GED required; vocational school preferred.
- Careful attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Reliable and responsible with a strong commitment to fulfilling obligations.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions and tasks.
- Capable of working independently and managing tasks effectively.
- Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility.
- Demonstrated reliable work history.
