Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, flux core, sub arc and/or carbon arc welding on metal components and assemblies according to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to accurately complete welding tasks.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to specifications; conduct tests to ensure welds meet required standards.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools, including setting up machines, changing electrodes, and ensuring proper functioning.
- Prepare materials for welding by cutting, arc gouging, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces, handle and store materials safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment; report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions.
- Work closely with others to ensure timely completion of projects and resolve any welding-related issues.
Requirements
- 0-3 years of MIG, TIG, flux core, sub arc and carbon arc welding experience or any combination of education and experience.
- 0-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Working knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Excellent precision and accuracy in welding tasks including a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Can lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to endure prolonged periods of standing and work in various positions.
- High level of hand-eye coordination for precise welding work and the ability to use hand tools effectively.
- Ability to reach overhead or extend arms for welding tasks in challenging positions.
- Excellent vision (or corrected vision), including depth perception and color recognition.
- Ability to sustain physical activity over the entire shift, including repetitive motions.
- Awareness of surroundings and adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Potential use of manufacturing machinery such as carts, pallet jacks, forklifts or conveyors, which may require training and certification.
