The Shop Fitter - TIG role involves performing trade-specific work in a shop environment while ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards are met to exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all safety processes and procedures.
• Have knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
• Operate trade-specific shop tools and machinery.
• Read and understand production drawings, labels, and measurements.
• Interpret job orders and drawings as needed for area of assignment.
• Layout and fabricate piping spools from production drawings.
• Inspect and document product compliance.
• Review produced work for correctness.
• Perform quality control inspections.
• Maintain clean and orderly tools/work area.
• Handle materials.
• Accurately maintain time records.
• Collaborate with fabrication team members.
• Assist in the maintenance of relevant shop production equipment.
• Train new employees.
• Provide information on daily production for tracking.
• Work with shop foreman to meet production goals.
• Communicate order statuses to shop leadership.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Identify product defects and communicate them to the project foreman.
• Work with overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts.
• Perform prioritized work assignments as directed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school degree or GED preferred or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
• Trade-specific training, experience, and knowledge.
• TIG welding experience required.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Strong knowledge of trade tools, equipment, and materials.
