Overview

The TIG Welder position at PCC Carson City involves performing precision Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW / TIG) repairs on aerospace investment castings to restore their integrity according to customer specifications and quality standards. This role requires working with various alloys and offers opportunities for advancement through different welder levels based on skill and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW / TIG) repairs on aerospace castings.
  • Work from shop orders, specifications, and written instructions to determine weld location and repair requirements.
  • Plan welding sequence including part preparation and finishing operations.
  • Repair casting defects such as cracks and porosity.
  • Select appropriate filler rod and welding parameters based on alloy requirements.
  • Perform visual inspections of weld areas before and after welding.
  • Use measuring devices to verify dimensional compliance.
  • Operate welding equipment and maintain proper setup.
  • Review weld maps and log work in computer systems.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain proper housekeeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • TIG / GTAW welding training or certification.
  • Experience welding aerospace alloys such as nickel-based or copper-based alloys.
  • Ability to read weld maps and technical drawings.
  • Understanding of metallurgy and heat treatment processes.
